What is truth?
We roughly have 8.3 billion people on the planet, and if you asked each individual this question, each person would probably give a slightly different answer. Many believe that we are born, we live, we die, and that’s that. Period. Many others, in a multitude of forms, believe that there is a life that animates all of creation. Others don’t know what to believe! The truth is (no pun intended!), that no one has a monopoly on truth. It does not need our sanction to exist. It simply is.
Okay, but what IS truth?
Many years ago, I saw a short video (I have added it below) on YouTube that gives a glimpse into the mind-blowing vastness of creation. It begins with a young woman happily lying on the grass, looking up at the sky. The camera zooms out and expands to show her city, continent, Earth, our galaxy, the Milky Way, superclusters, and all the way up to 10 billion light-years away! If that itself didn’t already knock your socks off, it then zooms back to the woman and down to her DNA, all the way to a quark. This video helped give me a visual picture that the life that is in me is the same life that is within the farthest star.
Most of us have seen, at some point or another, an animal or person who has recently passed from this world. Looking at the body, the form is still there, but the life, the beauty, the awareness that animated them is no longer there. If we are awareness that comes and goes in human form, then the universe, in turn, is also more than just a formulation of elements. It is an expression of consciousness. A consciousness that unites all of creation.
Scientists have proven that even matter itself isn’t solid. The kitchen table you have your meals on is made of particles vibrating at such an incredible speed that they give the appearance of being solid. If those particles in your table or let’s say the universe, were to cease to move, reality as we know it would no longer exist.
So, what does that tell us? Truth is not a belief. It may not even be a concept to define, at least not with our logical minds, anyway. We are consciousness aware of itself. Truth simply is.
For most of us, when we ask, “What is truth?” what we are really asking is, “What am I, really?” Well, my friend, you are the awareness reading these words, and so much more.
